Welcome to the Huntington Beach Fishing and Recreation Club. Our club is all about fishing, activities, camaraderie and having fun. We have members of all ages, and we fish in local fresh water lakes as well as in the Sierras, saltwater bays, the surf, and open ocean, as well as Mexico, Canada and Alaska. Our calendar is filled with scheduled activities every week and some members don’t even fish, but enjoy our numerous social activities. We would like to invite you to attend one of our monthly meetings which are held at the Huntington Beach Senior Center in Central Park 18041 Goldenwest St, Huntington Beach, CA 92648 on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 AM, so you can see first-hand what it’s all about.
Prospective members are eligible to join the Huntington Beach Fishing and Recreation Club after attending a meeting, completing an information form provided at the Club meeting and submitting their first dues. No one will be denied membership to this organization on the basis of race, religion, national origin or sex.

HBFRC has been involved in the H.O.P.E. White Seabass grown out program for several years. We have a team of several volunteers that help take care of the pen located in Huntington Harbor and during the fish grow out season.
This is an activity hosted by the Huntington Beach Police Department in conjunction with the California Fish and Wildlife Department to get local kids involved with fishing. A local lake gets stocked with fish, and a local school brings the children to enjoy a day of fishing while all gear and supervision are provided by Fish and Wildlife and Club members.
A similar annual event that the Fishing Club participates in is the “Ole Fishing Hole” where children with special needs are given the opportunity for a great day of fishing, and where again all fishing gear and supervision are provided. This event also includes lunch for the kids. This is a heartwarming event that gives these great kids an experience that they may otherwise not have.
The Club also participates in the Huntington Beach Huck Finn Days, which is a pier fishing activity on the Huntington Beach Pier where Club Members assist and mentor local kids with fishing from the pier.
Recreation” is also a theme of our Clubs activities, in addition to our fishing events.
Various additional social events such as Sunday Brunches, Beach parties, attendance at plays, Holiday parties etc. just to name a few.
I retired in 2013 and was introduced to the club by a friend of mine. I had promised myself that in my retirement I would try to get back to fishing and this club has made that promise come true. The people in the club are so friendly and having a common hobby makes all the club activities so much fun. I got involved in the club quickly and I feel that it was one of the best decisions I made in my retirement. The best part of this club is that we have so many different activities to enjoy that being involved will help keep you busy and enjoying life.
My name is Chris and I retired from my work in 2017. I’ve been fishing above and below water for more than 50 years. In 2018, I joined the Huntington Beach Fishing and Recreation Club. I was surprised how active this club was. The club is made up of men and women who love to fish both salt and freshwater. I was also amazed to find out that the club members participated in several other activities, like darts, poker, Sunday brunches, beach parties, and our annual Christmas party. The reason I joined is not just because of the fishing and activities—it is the relationships I’ve made with the many club members.
