“Fish with the Force”. This is an activity hosted by the Huntington Beach Police Department in conjunction with the California Fish and Wildlife Department to get local kids involved with fishing. A local lake gets stocked with fish and a local school brings the children to enjoy a day of fishing while all gear and supervision is provided by Fish and Wildlife and Club members. There is a brief educational presentation for the kids and the Fishing Club members mentor the children on effective fishing techniques. In years past, most of the kids have caught some nice fish!
A similar annual event that the Fishing Club participates is the “Ole Fishing Hole” where children with special needs are given the opportunity for a great day fishing, and where again all fishing gear and supervision is provided. This event also includes lunch for the kids. This is a heartwarming event that gives these great kids an experience that they may otherwise not have.
The Club also participates in the Huntington Beach Huck Finn Days, which is a pier fishing activity on the Huntington Beach Pier where Club Members assist and mentor local kids with fishing from the pier.
